Avalanche Lake Trail

Avalanche Lake Trail (2nd hiking)
Glacier National Park, Montana US
Distance: 5.4 miles (8.7km) return
Access: Going-to-the-sun road
Level: Moderate (muddy and slippery)
Miss C Fitbit: 24k

Pros: great view, family friendly, easily accessible from West Entrance (main gate)
Cons: busy all year around, it is a challenge to find parking spot in day use campsite.
Notes:
The Going-to-the-Sun Road was closed beyond the Avalanche Creek due snow condition (info from Apgar Visitor Center or this website https://www.nps.gov/applications/…/roadstatus/roadstatus.cfm

So we decided to hike this famous trail in our first day at Glacier NP. The route was pleasant, lots of scenery including the last year avalanche devastation area. Once we arrived in the lake we continue to hike up onto snow level. Overall it was fun for Miss C as she passing with many kids that doing the same route. We did not need encouragement as she was able to compete with herself.
